Google Cloud Platform is now in Australia
Google expanded its cloud region in the Asia pacific as GCP was gone live June 21 in Sydney. Giving partners and end customers in Australia and New Zealand access to a range of locally-sourced Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
Sydney will now be joining as one of the nine regions, 27 zones and 100 points of presence comprising the global Google Cloud Platform footprint.
Google Cloud Asia Pacific and Japan managing director, Richard Harshman told that: “The GCP customers down under will see significant reductions in latency when they run their applications out of the Sydney region,”
“Our performance testing shows 80-95 per cent reductions in round-trip time latency when service customers from New Zealand and Australian cities, such as Sydney, Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, compared to using the regions in Singapore and Taiwan,” he said.
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a suite of cloud computing services that runs on the same infrastructure that Google uses internally for its end-user products, like Google Search and YouTube. Alongside a set of management tools, it provides, a series of modular cloud services including computing, data storage, data analytics and machine learning.
